LPG Gas Installation Package — SANS 10087-1:2024 Compliant (South Africa)
These terms and conditions apply to any customer purchasing an LPG Gas Installation Package from Stargas. By purchasing the package, the customer agrees to the terms set out below.
1. Scope of Supply
The Package includes the supply of the following components:
- Gas Cage (Cylinder Housing compliant with SANS requirements)
- 4kg/hour Inline Regulator (SANS approved)
- 10 meters of 16mm LPG Pex-Al-Pex Gas Pipe (SANS compliant)
- 15 × 26mm Holder Bat Brackets
- 5 × 1216 Elbows
- 1 × 1216 Shut-off Valve
- 1 × 1216 Brass Pressure Testing Point
- 2 × Hose Clamps
- 2 meters Orange LPG Gas Hose (LPG-approved standard)
Only the above-listed materials are included unless otherwise agreed in writing.
In the unfortunate event of any parts being missing from the installation box, the customer is to contact Stargas directly with a video as proof that the package was opened and the parts were missing. Failure to supply proof of this in video format will result in Stargas voiding its obligation to replace these parts. Stargas guarantees that all packages have been checked and sealed with all the above parts in the box.
2. Compliance with SANS 10087
All work will comply with SANS 10087-1:2024 (or the latest revision). Installation will also comply with:
- Occupational Health and Safety Act (Act 85 of 1993)
- Applicable municipal by-laws and fire regulations
Only approved LPG components will be used.
3. Installation Standards
Installation must be carried out by a registered LPG installer and must include:
- Correct pipe sizing and routing
- Secure mounting and support of piping
- Proper ventilation and cylinder placement
- Safe distances from ignition sources, openings, and boundaries
4. Cylinder Safety Distances
Minimum distances that must be observed:
- 1 m from doors & windows
- 1 m from boundaries
- 5 m from electrical sources
- 2 m from vents
- Avoid low-lying areas
5. Pressure Testing and Commissioning
A pressure test will be conducted on completion of installation. The system will be checked for leaks and proper operation before handover. Gas will only be introduced once the system passes all required tests.
6. Certificate of Compliance (CoC)
A LPG Gas Certificate of Compliance (CoC) will be issued upon successful completion only in the event of using Stargas (Pty) Ltd for the installation. Stargas will not be held liable nor responsible for the CoC for any work done by another contractor.
The CoC confirms compliance with SANS 10087. Any alterations after issuance will void the CoC.
The CoC will also be voided should the customer participate in any illegal gas purchases from non-registered gas suppliers ("Roughs").
7. Customer Responsibilities
The Customer agrees to:
- Provide safe and unobstructed access to the installation site
- Ensure compliance with property regulations
- Not tamper with or modify the installation
- Arrange for annual inspection and maintenance (to be charged separately)
- Ensure cylinders used are compliant and within test date
8. Exclusions
Unless specifically included in writing, the following are excluded:
- LPG cylinders and gas refills
- Gas appliances
- Electrical or plumbing work
- Structural or civil work
- Additional maintenance due to damage to materials (non-maintenance)
- Additional piping beyond 10 meters
- Compliance upgrades to existing installations
9. Pricing and Payment
Pricing is based on standard installation conditions. Any site-specific work that falls outside the scope of supply listed in Section 1 will be quoted separately before the work commences.
10. Warranty
Installation workmanship carries a warranty of 24 months when the installation is carried out by Stargas (Pty) Ltd only.
Manufacturer warranties apply and it is the customer's responsibility to confirm what these warranties are at time of installation.
Warranties are voided in any case of misuse, tampering, or wear and tear.
Any damage caused by or during transport will void the warranty, and it will be the responsibility of the customer to claim such damages from the courier company in question.
11. Safety and Legal Compliance
The Customer must follow LPG safety requirements at all times. In case of a gas leak:
- Shut off the gas supply
- Ventilate the area
- Avoid ignition sources
12. Liability
The Contractor or Stargas is not liable for damage caused by third-party interference, non-compliant equipment, or lack of maintenance. Liability is limited to the contract value.
Stargas will not be held responsible for any damage or injury caused by the parts supplied in this package. The customer, contractor, courier, or any other person hereby agrees that they will work carefully and with full knowledge of how to handle the package and its contents. Should the person in question feel they are unable to do so in a safe manner, they are to contact a qualified person to assist them.
13. Delays
The Contractor, supplier, or manufacturer of the package will not be held responsible for delays due to weather, material shortages, site access issues, or any other reason whatsoever. Stargas will do its level best to ensure all packages are delivered within the agreed delivery time.
14. Vouchers
All vouchers apply at your local Stargas only. Vouchers are not redeemable for cash. Vouchers received in areas where there is no Stargas outlet will not be redeemable at any other gas company, nor may a client request Stargas to cover the bill of the voucher at another gas company.
